Mari > the valley looking towards the narrows
Mari > perching!
Mari > chains were installed through the last few hundred feet... i've never been so thankful to have a freaking chain to hold onto.. and i'm not scared of heights in the least... it was pretty crazy. i thought for sure we'd see someone fall off. we watched as some dumbass guy ran past us and lost his footing and was just about as good as gone when he somehow steadied himself.
Mari > we drove straight through to yosemite next where we entered through the east entrance and had to drive across the whole park to get to the valley.
Mari > half dome. we managed to get a campsite near the village by putting our name on a list and waiting for site assignment due to no shows. we ended up with the crappiest site next to this huge RV full of crazies with millions of kids and tents and bikes and rafts. they had their crap spread out into our site and then proceeding to drink and party rowdily till late into the night. it was horrible and we left first thing in the morning to find a more remote area of the park. never again will i visit national parks in the middle of summer... the typical american tourist you encounter is enough to ruin your trip.
Mari > CHEESE!!!!
Mari > this deserted campground on the outskirts on the park was just our style... we were just a little scared we were going to get eaten by a bear in the middle of the night!
Mari > after yosemite, we drove around lake tahoe where we stopped for a swim before going on to reno. we crashed in a fancy hotel where we spent the evening in the casinos and lost 40 bucks each. anyway, then we drove to ashland, oregon (really cute town) where we camped and then head to the oregon coast the next day.
Mari > oregon coast... i forgot the name of the town. this must've been the fifth or sixth campground we checked for vacancies. we couldn't figure out why it was so crowded when we drove under a huge banner that read, "DUNE FEST this weekend!" i have never seen so many rednecks with their four wheelers, dirt bikes, and jacked up american trucks. it was raunchy. luckily they were limited to areas with dunes so we just kept driving until we found some dune free stretches of beach.
