Mari > ummm, we just got new sunglasses and we are all dressed for christmas, because it's July and we're in the grand canyon.

Mari > andreas took off the backpack so that he'd be lighter and less likely to cause a rock slide.
Mari > we actually searched for the ledge overhanging the most to go stand on.... do you think we might off our rockers??
Mari > ohhh the overhang looks a lot more dangerous from this angle!
Mari > we took the bright angel trail a couple miles down towards the river one afternoon after the thunderstorms blew over. (we had constant thunder and lightening throughout our time in the southwest... i didn't mind, it was kinda exciting and it sure made the summer heat more tolerable.) we actually got scolded by a ranger for being out on the rim during one of the storms... she said we'd get hit by lightening.. (as if i'd be so lucky). anyway, so we were pretty disappointed that we didn't make it to the bottom of the canyon... maybe next time!
